Manager/Supervisor
The Permitting Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all permitting processes for home improvement projects. This role will work closely with contractors, homeowners, and local authorities to ensure timely and accurate permit acquisition and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Permit Acquisition:
- Review project plans and specifications to determine necessary permits and licenses.
- Prepare and submit permit applications to local building departments and other relevant agencies.
- Track permit application status and follow up with authorities as needed.
- Obtain required inspections and approvals throughout the construction process.
- Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all local building codes, zoning regulations, and other relevant regulations.
- Advise contractors and homeowners on permitting requirements and processes.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local permitting regulations and changes.
- Project Management:
- Coordinate permitting activities with project managers and contractors to ensure timely completion.
- Resolve permitting issues and delays in a timely and efficient manner.
- Maintain accurate records of all permitting activities and documentation.
- Customer Service:
- Provide excellent customer service to homeowners and contractors.
- Communicate effectively with all parties involved in the permitting process.
- Address any concerns or questions related to permits and regulations.
- Team Management:
- May supervise or mentor junior permitting staff.
- Delegate tasks and responsibilities as needed.
- Provide training and support to team members.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in the home improvement industry with a focus on permitting.
- Strong understanding of local building codes, zoning regulations, and permitting processes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software.
- Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field preferred.
Additional Skills (Preferred)
- Experience with online permitting systems.
- Knowledge of green building standards and certifications.
- Bilingual language skills.
