We are seeking a Power Solutions Manager to lead capacity acquisition, utility procurement, and power infrastructure development for a rapidly expanding data center network. This position requires expertise in energy markets, power purchasing agreements, and renewable energy integration, particularly in regulated and deregulated environments. Candidates with a construction background, project management experience, and data center knowledge are highly preferred.
Compensation & Work Structure
Salary Range: $133,000–$147,000 (Flexibility up to $175,000 for exceptional candidates)
Locations: Open to candidates in Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, Chicago, Denver, Boston, New York, Raleigh, Northern Virginia, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Miami, or Orlando
Schedule: Hybrid model – in-office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, remote on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays
Travel Requirement: Up to 20% travel, primarily external-facing with quarterly business trips
About the Role
As a Power Solutions Manager, you will oversee energy procurement, capacity acquisition, and vendor relationships to support the development of new and existing data center infrastructure. Reporting to the Director of Power Solutions, this role will be instrumental in securing reliable, cost-effective, and sustainable energy solutions. You will collaborate across multiple teams to ensure operational efficiency, risk mitigation, and long-term energy strategy success.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and execute power capacity acquisition projects to meet both immediate and long-term utility development needs.
Build and maintain strong relationships with utility providers, vendors, and regulatory agencies to ensure efficient energy procurement.
Negotiate and oversee power supply agreements, capacity contracts, and regulatory compliance in both regulated and deregulated markets.
Develop and implement distributed energy resources (DER), low-carbon energy solutions, battery storage systems, and fuel cells to enhance power reliability.
Oversee substation planning, design, and power infrastructure development, ensuring scalability and efficiency.
Monitor energy markets, trends, and regulatory changes to optimize procurement strategies and cost savings.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives in energy procurement, distribution, and infrastructure design.
Collaborate with internal departments—including Finance, Operations, Engineering, and Construction—to align energy strategies with business goals.
Ensure compliance reporting and regulatory adherence for all energy procurement activities.
Represent the company in external stakeholder meetings, industry conferences, and vendor negotiations.
Qualifications & Skills
5+ years of experience in energy procurement, power infrastructure development, or utility negotiations, with at least 3 years working with utility developers or data centers.
Expertise in energy markets, power purchasing agreements (PPAs), and utility negotiations.
Strong knowledge of substation planning, distributed energy solutions, renewable energy integration, and sustainability frameworks.
Proven ability to negotiate with utility providers, energy suppliers, and external stakeholders.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in market trend analysis, risk mitigation, and cost-benefit assessments.
Excellent communication and project management skills to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously.
Proficiency in energy management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and data analysis tools.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field (Master’s degree or certifications such as CEM or CPM preferred).
Ability to manage competing priorities, tight deadlines, and high-impact projects.
Flexibility to travel up to 20% for stakeholder meetings, negotiations, and site visits.
