Director, Construction Data Center

Title: Director, Construction Data Center - Platform Delivery

Salary: $240,000 + 20% Bonus + Benefits

Responsibilities:

• Lead and Direct: Oversee day-to-day operations of construction projects and lead a team of 2-3 direct reports.
• Strategic Direction: Provide long-term strategic guidance for large, complex construction projects, ensuring they meet or exceed company expectations.
• Project Leadership: Guide and lead projects from ground-up construction to renovations, ensuring alignment with company standards.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Organize and lead cross-functional teams (design, procurement, operations, IT/Network, finance) to implement best practices in construction management.
• Vendor Management: Manage and coordinate with 25+ external vendors (General Contractors, A&E design teams, commissioning agents, equipment suppliers).
• Process Development: Develop and implement company and departmental processes and best practices.
• Contract Administration: Ensure effective contract management, including generating, reviewing, and monitoring prime contracts, subcontracts, change orders, cost forecasts, and other relevant documents.
• Quality Assurance: Inspect work in progress and completed work to ensure adherence to quality, specification, and schedule requirements.
• Relationship Building: Maintain strong relationships with internal and external team members, including staff, subcontractors, vendors, architects, and industry professionals.
• Professional Development: Seek out training, professional development, and career advancement opportunities.
• Talent Management: Assist in interviewing, hiring, training, and developing new and existing staff.
• Subject Matter Expertise: Provide expertise in areas of responsibility.
• Reporting: Report status, successes, challenges, and plans of action to management and the company.
• Metrics: Develop, manage, and be accountable for achieving key departmental metrics.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in engineering, construction management, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in successfully managing commercial construction projects or programs.
• Construction data center platform delivery experience is a must.
• Strong working knowledge of building construction and project management processes at a global scale.
• Proven experience in designing and delivering data centers in various geographies in North America.
• Track record in overseeing medium to large-scale data center construction projects with capital expenditure oversight of $100M+.  
• Ability to analyze and evaluate construction documents (drawings, specifications, contracts).
• Proficiency in CPM scheduling methods, construction cost estimating, proposal generation, document management, and contract administration.
• Expertise in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, and other industry computer applications.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, presentation, and team-building skills.
• Demonstrated success in building and leading teams of construction professionals in multiple international regions.
• Excellent leadership and management skills, exceptional communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.  
• Ability to multi-task and work within a team in a fast-paced and demanding environment.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
